Hello everyone, we are bored of discussing the unpredictable weather, though I am sure we had a brief bit of sunshine! Anyway, onwards to a beautiful Autumn in the Surrey Hills, we will embrace the gorgeous colours. We can’t beat the stunning view from our field and are hugely grateful that the ground drains quickly!
So, in hindsight we have had a really busy and successful September. Karen launched her first coffee morning, which had a lovely turn out. The dogs had a fantastic time, I personally had a fantastic time and so did Molly and Jack (my personal feral children)! We may have to work on home made cake for the next one (no pressure Karen ) (edit from Karen – ummm no – at least not baked by me – this would NOT be a good idea!). All the dogs were super tired and owners got to have a good natter about anything they fancied. If you fancy joining then here is the link for our October coffee morning – this is suitable for EVERYONE!

We had a fabulous Open Day on the 21st September, despite a terrible start with the weather, the turnout was great and we saw some lovely new and old faces and some absolutely beautiful dogs (not that I am biased, but there were some stunning collies)! We had a fabulous Best in Show and our very own Leah Wrights’ Rottweiler puppy, Darla, took the crowning position. Tom Bowden – Eyre Photography took some fabulous pictures, the link is here if any of you haven’t seen them and missed out!
A lot of work went into the day so an absolutely huge thank you to Miche for making the grounds look absolutely beautiful and smart. Special thanks to a lot of our Flyball team who joined in and helped – Carol, Shona, Penny, Janine, Lynda and of course our lovely judge Helen.
Poppy, the coffee van lady had a fab day and was an absolute delight and will be joining us again on the 7th December for our Christmas party, so stick that date in your diary. This plan is already underway, so make sure we see you all there. We have lots already planned!
The most exciting part of October is our 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY! We have been going a whole year. It’s been absolutely amazing and the only low we can think of, has been the weather! Thank you so much to all our lovely clients that keep us sane and happy. We all absolutely love seeing and teaching you. If you have any ideas of things you would like to see at the Shed, drop us a line, any feedback is most welcome!
We took to the training arena and completed our level 3 hoopers instructors course, purely so we can now be even meaner to you on your courses and skills we set. Joking aside Carrie-Anne was her usual amazing self and we had a fab day learning lots of new skills to pass on to you all.
Karen’s training services are now all on our website, so you can now book 121 training, puppy packages, pre puppy home visits and pick her brains for all things training related. It’s all on the HKM Dog Training page (along with a LOT of photos of the ponies!) https://hkmdogs.com/hkmdogtraining/
The behaviour page is currently having a revamp as Karen has FINALLY completed her Dynamic Dog course and is now a licensed Dynamic Dog practitioner. Find out more on the HKM Dog Behaviour page https://hkmdogs.com/hkmdogbehaviour/ – but this is going to be a complete game changer for dogs with pain related behaviour issues. It’s Karen’s specialist subject (she knows she’s a weirdo) and she’s really looking forward to being able to incorporate it into behaviour assessments and as a stand alone service. The page will be updated with all the details in the next couple of days!
Also, some of you may have seen Sharon’s amazing art at the Open Day – well, she’s now taken up residency at The Shed, which we are absolutely thrilled about! Check her out at:

We haven’t set the autumn/winter timetable just yet, this is in the plan for this week, so you get all that info as a separate update in the next few days. However, in the meantime we have:
The hoopers clear round: https://HKMDogSports.as.me/HoopersCR2
October’s coffee morning: https://HKMDogSports.as.me/coffeemornings
and Karen is braving a Recall workshop: https://HKMDogSports.as.me/RecallOct24
Hopefully we will have some indoor space soon (I’m frantically working on this), so if you could please bear with us while we find this and also work on the new outside lights – more lights are coming to hopefully make things better, your patience is much appreciated on this!
Take care,
Holly, Karen and Miche x
